O'Hare Modernization Project
10C-28C Runway Construction
In 2008 Terrell Materials was subcontracted to manufacture over 279,000 cubic yards of Portland cement concrete pavement. Under the watchful eye of the Federal Aviation Administration, the O’Hare Modernization Program, and Walsh Construction Quality Control.
Terrell Materials role in the 10C-28C East project consisted of the high volume production of portland cement concrete pavement for the East section of runway and supporting taxiways for O’Hare’s newest runway. Designed for the Type VI new commercial airliners (Boeing 747-800 and the Airbus 380) our quality was critical in the success of this project.
The Combination of the highly experienced Walsh Construction paving team working seamlessly with Terrell Materials providing dependability and consistency, enable us to break a record at O’Hare International Airport. 7,900 cubic yards of Portland Cement concrete pavement was placed in a single shift during this project. More impressive than the volume, not a single load was rejected for quality.
The 10C-28C East project was our debut at O’Hare, our quality and performance has kept us there for almost 10 years running. This project was finished on time and on budget without a single incident or accident.
